Flight attendants are the "eyes and ears" of the flight deck!  In the event of an emergency, the pilots' primary duty is to maintain operational control of the aircraft resolving any issues as quickly and safely as possible.  The flight attendant's primary duty is to prepare the passengers and cabin in the event an evacuation is necessary once on the ground.  From instructing passengers to place on life vests or smoke hoods to securing the cabin, having an industry TRAINED flight attendant onboard is vital for the safety of EVERYONE onboard.
